The Garland Landmark Society, Inc
The mission of the Garland Landmark Society, established in 1972, is to collect, preserve, exhibit and interpret historical elements of the city’s rich heritage.
This mission is carried out by volunteers who work together to create interesting and informative displays, plan events and students’ field trips and open the museum to visitors. The volunteers are passionate about sharing Garland’s unique story with its residents.
The work of the society takes place at the Landmark Museum which is housed in a vintage 1901 Santa Fe depot at 393 N. Sixth St. in downtown Garland. The museum, dedicated in 1974 by the City of Garland, houses historic artifacts and documents. The carefully curated collection focuses on the period between 1850 and the present.
Visit the museum to learn about the city’s past on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., and please consider becoming a member of the Garland Landmark Society. Members receive our quarterly newsletter, On Track, and free admission to entertaining quarterly lectures. You will also receive a calendar that showcases photos from the society’s collection along with significant dates from Garland’s past. Feel free to browse through the website for a wealth of information about your hometown’s history.
